What is glass fiber?

How fiberglass is formed?
There are two production processes: the crucible drawing method and the pool kiln drawing method.
The crucible drawing method has many processes. First, the glass raw material is melted into glass balls at high temperature, and then the glass balls are melted for a second time.Then drawn at high speed to make glass fiber strands. This process has various disadvantages such as high energy consumption, unstable molding process, and low labor productivity, and is basically eliminated by large glass fiber manufacturers.
In the pool kiln drawing method, raw materials such as pyrophyllite are melted into a glass solution in a kiln, and after removing air bubbles, it is transported to a porous leakage plate through a passage, and is drawn into a glass fiber strand at a high speed. The kiln can connect hundreds of bushings through multiple channels for simultaneous production. This process can save the ball making process, simplify the process flow, and have high efficiency. A pool kiln wire drawing kiln can install 10 to hundreds of leakage plates, with large melting capacity and high production capacity. This method is easy to realize automation, and is suitable for the production of coarse fibers suitable for FRP with porous large bushings, and the produced waste wire is easy to return to the furnace.
What is glass fiber fabric?
Glass fiber fabric is made by drawing glass into very fine glass filaments, and the glass filaments at this time have good flexibility. The glass fiber is spun into yarn, and then woven into glass fiber cloth through weaving loom machine. Because the glass filament is extremely thin and the surface area per unit mass is extremely large, the temperature resistance performance is reduced. It's like melting a thin copper wire with a candle.
