Rapier loom, as a new type of loom, has the characteristics of high speed, high automation and high efficiency. The active weft insertion method has excellent versatility and can be used for weft insertion of various yarns.Rapier looms are widely used in yarn-dyed, towelling, silk, wool, flax and other industries.Rapier looms also have outstanding advantages in multi-color weaving, with up to 16 color wefts. It is the most popular medium - and small-batch fabric loom.Rapier looms have become the most widely used shuttleless looms.
Rapier looms differ from other looms as follows
1. Different weft insertion methods
Air-jet looms use compressed air;Rapier loom uses rapier belt and yarn clamp, water jet loom uses water jet, and projectile loom uses one-way movement, relying on the lifting rod to hit the shuttle.
2.Speed
Air and water jets are faster than rapier looms; For example, the speed of the 190cm reed air jet loom can reach 1200r/min, and that of the rapier loom can reach 600r/min.
3.Application
Rapier looms can weave cotton, wool, silk, linen, and man-made fibers.Rapier looms can easily handle thick fabrics up to 1500GSM in weight.Air jet is suitable for high count and high density fabric, generally 30~550gms.
4. Requirements for yarn
Rapier loom has low requirements for yarn, hairiness, nep and sizing. However, air jet loom requires smooth yarn surface, less hairiness and high strength.Because water-jet looms use water, they are usually used for hydrophobic fabrics. The projectile loom is very suitable for making ultra-wide fabric because of its high precision requirement.
5. Color selection
Rapier looms can weave up to 16 weft colors, projectile looms 8 colors, water jet looms 4 colors, air jet looms 8 colors.
